We focus on our be school ready programme

Here at BestStart Pukautua, we have a strong focus on being the leader of our own learning.

We encourage our tamariki to participate in group learning situations, gain new skills in matching and sorting, and work together to create something that they have imagined together.

By allowing our Tamariki to have this freedom, open-ended resources, and group participation, they are being equipped with essential skills for the start of their schooling journey.

Here at BestStart Pukautua, we have a strong focus on our be school ready programme in our preschool unit.

This also starts right from when we are in our baby unit.
This looks like choosing our own learning experiences, open-ended resources, being encouraged to step out of our comfort zone, and being supported the whole way.

This can also look like we are learning how to get ourselves ready for school by working in a group, working together and listening to each other, understanding patterns and sequences, sorting and matching.

With support from our teachers, we are able to create the most amazing creations, be the best we can be and understand what it takes to be our own leaders.

Here at best Start Pukuatua, we see the importance of simple maths, letter recognition, sitting beside each other, listening to each other point of view, putting our bags and belongings away, washing our hands, and keeping ourselves healthy.
