Painting is very soothing and calming for our little tamariki.  They simply love this and can spend a good amount of time creating their beautiful pieces of art.  It simply allows children with greatest benefits such as helping them to communicate their emotions or feelings, expressing themselves without the use of words, have fun, use of hand and eye coordination and many more great opportunities that they can explore while painting at the same time.  They learn about different primary colours and what happens when 2, 3 or even more colours mixed together.

Not only is it a great opportunity for solitary painting however when children paint with their peers it gives them the opportunity to communicate their thoughts either verbally or in the art they make can simply lead them into creating conversations and this is hugely evident in children’s painting activity here at St Lukes.  Painting is a wonderful learning experience towards children’s sensory play as well.
