We love performing
We were very lucky to be part of our Kahui Ako Arts Festival being held this week. Part of this was a ECE celebration where we performed at Orua Paeroa (Shirley boys and Avonside girls Highschool).
On Wednesday afternoon we gathered at Orua Paeroa with nga tamariki from our Prepschool. Together with our Kaiako we went up on stage in front of over 400 people and performed. The Kaiako were given the task of creating a performance around the theme of Belonging. We sung a welcome song, enacted a story (In the Beginning) done an action song (Kei te peke ahau) and finished with a a farewell song.
I was so very proud of both takariki and Kaiako.
We also had the task of creating some art work to be displayed at the art exhibition, each of our three rooms created a piece of art around the theme of belonging.
Another part of the arts festival was creating a mural that will be erected at MacFarlane park. This is combined with the other ECE's from the Kahui Ako.
It is great to be able to be part of this community event, being involved with the local community helps us to form a stronger sense of belonging.
