We had been preparing for weeks by making a large welcome sign, and the children had also made a heart koru with shells collected from the beach. After watching Tahatai Coast School perform a kapa haka, a ribbon was cut and we were able to go inside and check out the brand new store. The children were asked to hand out chocolates to the first customers of the day and they enjoyed approaching the public and handing them their treats with a big smile!
