Our centre looks very different under alert level 3 with only 3 children attending the centre over the past couple of weeks but my goodness, the amount of learning that is happening within the centre has been amazing.

Our tamariki have been very much enjoying the one to one interactions that they have been gaining from their teachers but also enjoying the social aspects of being able to play with and alongside their special bubble ehoa (friends). What we have really enjoyed is the closeness and bonds formed between the tamariki who have been at our centre.  The dispositions we have been observing have warmed our hearts.

Our tamariki have been very attentive towards each other, asking each other lots of questions during activities.  Consoling each other if they get upset.  Communicating their needs to each other and their teachers and giving each other space when they feel the need to play on their own.  I feel that the bond these children have formed during level 3 will grow and foster even more once we reopen the centre to all of our tamariki.

It has been really rewarding as teachers to see these relationships grow between children who wouldn't naturally play together in their normal daycare settings and we can wait to see them reunite with their other friends once we get back to our new norm.  What a magical day that is going to be.
