We've Adopted our Local Park
BestStart Katikati has adopted our local park/reserve and will be venturing across the road with the teachers to keep our beautiful park/reserve clear of rubbish and visually appealing. This has been an incentive from the "Keep Katikati Beautiful", adopt a street programme. The aim is have a cleaner and litter-free environment. This is a great learning tool for our tamariki to look after our environment and be proud of the work they do. This is a great opportunity for the tamariki to be involved in our community and to develop a sense of community pride. It also supports the tamariki to develop a sense of responsibility, ownership skills and to set them up with the key message about caring for our environment. Leading up to the adoption of the park; our tamariki have been involved in painting rocks - one day soon we will take them over and hide them, and have had our beautiful hand painted poppies displayed in the reserve for all the community to enjoy. Alongside the pleasure of keeping our community clean Katch Katikati Inc have given the centre two flax to plant in our garden as a thankyou. We cant wait to share more of this journey with you all!!
