As part of our ongoing focus on Culture, Language, and Identity, our preschool tamariki enjoyed a meaningful and joyful celebration of cultural diversity last week.

We were delighted to welcome our twin brothers’ parents, who came to share about France, the beautiful country of their family heritage.

During mat time, they introduced us to the French language, teaching greetings such as Bonjour (hello), À bientôt (see you soon), and Au revoir (goodbye). The children were excited to repeat these new words and are already beginning to use them in our daily routines.

Everyone listened carefully and giggled with delight as we practiced the new sounds together. We also enjoyed hearing Happy Birthday sung in French, which brought big smiles and encouraged tamariki to join in with the familiar tune in a new way. Our visitors shared interesting facts about France, including its delicious foods like cheese and bread, and showed pictures of the famous Eiffel Tower, inspiring dreams of travel and adventure.

This special visit helped our tamariki learn more about the world around them and appreciate different cultures while strengthening their own sense of identity. Merci beaucoup to our twin brothers’ parents for sharing their culture with us.
