Recently in the Prep Room tamariki have been showing a big interest in the garden, insects and nature. To follow this interest we have been engaging in a variety of art and science experiences which explore insects and bugs, as well as plants and how plants grow. Together tamariki have been curious to explore lifecycles, habitats and more as they develop working theories for how the world around them works. This interest has also led into conversations about how we can support papatūānuku (Mother Earth) to be able to keep looking after our plants and insect life, such as recycling, food scrapes, planting our own kai to eat, protecting spiders, ladybirds and any insects we find and so on.
