What a fabulous day for a wheels day today! It is sunny but windy so it is very comfortable to be outside, especially for a ride. Our tamariki have brought in their bikes or scooters with excitement as they showed off their smart wheels or helmet to their friends. We are blessed to have a very big back yard with a nice long path and a big concrete area for the fun ride.

It is so cool to watch them play, no matter they are confident riders or learners of the wheels. Some of the tamariki blew me away with their amazing riding skills, just imagine they take these skills with them as they grow.  All of them have demonstrated different level of confidence in control of their bodies, especially in hand foot hand co-ordination (NZ Early childhood curriculum Te Whariki, exploration goal).

I have observed heaps of positive social situations where they help their peers with their vehicles, sharing the path and being kind to other road users, supporting each other when there are accidents.  They are also learning self care skills and look after their vehicles by having a 'car wash', while having some fun splashing each other with the water.
