Our tamariki love water, and they love bubbles.  They particularly like to gather their water from the pump barrel, and transport the water to the sandpit.  Today we decided to discreetly add some detergent into the barrel to create some bubbles and see how our tamariki would react.  As we began to pump the water, clear water began to flow, and as always, all our tamariki would put their hands out under the flowing water.  After a few pumps, they began to notice there was something else in the barrel, when small bubbles began forming on their hands.  They looked inside the barrel, then at their hands, then at the water flowing from the pump with a muddled look on their face.  As we began to pump the water a little faster, more and more bubbles began to form eventually over-flowing out of the barrel and onto their hands.  Our tamariki were very excited to see lots of bubbles coming out of the barrel and had so much fun with this experience enabling them to demonstrate curiosity and increase their ability to explore and develop their own working theories and making sense of the world.
