Where is the Dinosaur?
Here at BestStart Oamaru Kindy we strive to support children's imaginative play through many exciting and thought provoking experiences.
As the tamariki have been interested in dinosaurs lately this arose an opportunity to engage our tamariki in this particular imaginative play experience.
Dinosaur footprints were drawn in chalk outside before the tamariki came outside after lunch and our children were told 'A friendly dinosaur came to play while you were all eating your kai!"
The tamariki were extremely excited to zoom around the bike track on the bikes and also search on foot for this friendly dinosaur.
The tamariki had so much fun for the afternoon challenging their communication skills, their thinking and reasoning skills and their imagination as they discussed what play equipment the dinosaur liked best, how often it might visit Kindy, and when it might come back to play again!
Maybe next time it might bring a friend!
