Forest Kindy project has been a success in our preschool room. We've gone on a weekly walk to Melville Park.

We explored our community (the local primary school which our children were very excited about, bus stops, beautiful trees along the street) and had a picnic morning tea when we reached the park. We climbed trees, went on a treasure hunt and brought back our amazing morning with us to pass down to our younger children.

This is a programme that younger children now look forward to and older children take part in as part of the 'Set for School' programme at BestStart and do it with pride as 'big girls and big boys'. We didn't want our babies to miss out on the exciting outing and went out to local cafes with mums. It was simply magical to take a peaceful stroll down the street, enjoy a little bit of sweet and fluffies and catch up with each other.

To wrap up the year before some of our children go away on holiday, we organised a Christmas party for the whole centre which was an absolute favourite! We had Popcorn the Clown visiting us, a snow disco party in the garden, shared afternoon tea with our whanau and a visit from Mrs Claus with lots and lots of goodies.

Our fun does not stop through the holiday as we also provide a fun holiday programme to enjoy. This might include going for more walks, making fun arts and crafts, water play day, picnics, baking cookies and the list could go on. Come and join us on our open day on Thursdays and have a morning with us.

Until then Meri Kirihimete and happy New years!
