Here at BestStart Manukau, we honoured Waitangi Day by inviting some senior citizens from our local board to celebrate with us.

The Young at Heart senior citizen members were welcomed by waiatas which was followed by the singing of the New Zealand national anthem by both parties in harmony. It was wonderful to see both generations singing together, enjoying activities, doing Storytime, and more. Through this experience, the children and adults were brought together and were able to share a special intergenerational bond.  By hosting this amazing occasion, we were able to make a connection with our local community.

Through this youthful program, we engaged with senior citizens and children using different techniques and materials aimed at building success, self-confidence; and for the older counterparts, the potential to unlock buried memories. This exclusive program demonstrates the early year concepts and yield moments of joy for the child and adult alike. It was a real pleasure to see two generations learning alongside each other. We would like to especially thank the OPE sustained community member, Nimi Bedi for organising this visit to see us at BestStart Manukau.
