Yummy baking
In the He Kakano Room we have been enjoying a variety of sensory experiences such as baking, jelly creations and exploring gloop. The tamariki love to involve themselves in these activities which provide lots of opportunities to explore all their senses. The tamariki love the process of baking especially helping, by adding and mixing ingredients and of course the result, eating it.
We are very passionate about children learning through sensory experiences and have begun to really focus on providing baking opportunities within each of our rooms, each week. Sensory play doesn’t just have to be through messy play and art it can also be promoted through baking. Although within our He Kakano (birth to 2 years) room our teachers direct this experience, the tamariki can still be a part of the process and explore with their senses, smell, feel, hear, and taste.
