Zebra Day

Celebrating black, white and Zebra day to raise awareness of Ehlers Danlos Syndromes.

On Friday the 27th of May, the preschool organised a black and white zebra day to raise awareness of Ehlers Danlos syndromes. The Ehlers Danlos syndromes are a group of connective tissue disorders that can be hereditary, varied and cause hyper mobility (alongside many other symptoms). The Zebra image is used to raise awareness of EDS because like a Zebra's striped pattern is different and varied, so is each person's symptoms.

We celebrated by dressing up in black, white and zebra themed clothing, making zebra masks, learning about zebras and what noises they make, learning about EDS and playing some fun games like pin the tail on the zebra. The children had lots of fun learning and creating.

We were happy and excited here at BestStart Opihi to support one of our lovely families with this day of awareness.
