BestStart Ascot Ave, in Remuera, has been rated as one of NZ's top childcare centres by The Education Review Office! BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. We provide affordable, high-quality education and award-winning childcare for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Inspired by the Maori saying, "Na to rourou, na taku rourou ka ora ai to iwi" (With your food basket and my food basket, the people will thrive), we believe in appreciating the small gestures and being respectful of the environment and resources around us.

Located near the motorway and the vibrant Remuera community, we have strong community links and frequently explore local places of interest. Families trust us with the care of their precious tamariki (children) and see us as an extended part of their own family. Through daily Storypark posts, we keep families updated about their children's activities, milestones, and learning experiences. Additionally, we provide individual child stories that celebrate their unique progress and achievements.

Our Team

With years of collective experience, our team thrives in the classroom. Each team member brings their unique talents and expertise, enriching the learning environment for our tamariki (children). Our team embraces diversity, fluently speaking English, Cantonese, Filipino, South African, Mandarin, Japanese, Thai, and Spanish.

Continual professional development is a priority for our teaching team. We actively seek opportunities to enhance our skills and stay up to date with the latest educational practices.

What We Offer

My daughter has been attending BestStart Ascot since February of this year; she is in the baby room. From the initial phone call we were made to feel welcomed and I was really impressed with how warm and inviting all the teachers were on our many visits. The centre is beautifully presented, with amazing resources and books. The outdoor area is great with climbing equipment and a massive sandpit. The teachers are really caring and are always doing fun activities with the kids. I really like how each child has a main carer and parents get a nice little update on how their child's day went when they are picked up. Great centre, highly recommend it!

Our son has attended this daycare since he was 9 months old and I've always been extremely happy with our experience. I had visited several in the area but initially choose this based on the relationships I saw between teachers and the babies plus the smaller numbers in the baby room. Beautiful renovated centre and great toys and learning opportunities. The centre manager Shreena is passionate about her job and this is evident throughout the centre. Fantastic staff, and the food is great too. I would highly recommend it.

BestStart Ascot is the best thing that has happened to my family. Lovely, bright, clean, and organized centre. Teachers are friendly, enthusiastic, happy and professional. We are very happy and satisfied with the service and my son Zachary loves spending time there. I love that we get a bunch of photos of all the activities that he's been doing throughout the week, really appreciate all your hard work ladies at BestStart Ascot. It's a great place for kids to learn and play. I highly recommend it to everyone!

A very big thank you for the lovely gift for Eli. He already fancies the jingly mirror cube. Also as teachers I know you don’t always get the thanks you deserve, especially teachers of very small people. Thank you all for taking such wonderful care of our Cedric. He loves coming to school and the freedom to be outside running around and riding bikes as much as his heart desires. Thank you for introducing the children to different things that they usually wouldn’t be exposed to e.g. the Diwali celebrations and the henna tattoos and Halloween (Cedric would be too tired in the evening to walk around all dressed up.

Lovely, clean, bright environment. The cook makes amazing food and snacks as well as prepares fresh fruits for morning & afternoon tea. I can see teachers are professional and try their very best to take good care of all the children. My whole family love this daycare, especially my son who is always happy to go there.

The centre staff are very welcoming and there are alot of learning experiences being created for the children that focusses on their interests as well as their holistic development. The cetre values diversity. We are really happy with his development and the care the teachers show towards him everyday.

The teachers here have been really receptive and the worries I had before are no longer an issue as they have reassured me.
