BestStart Bayfair is now open! We provide quality education and care for children aged between 3 months to 6 years old in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. Come for a centre visit and see our new purpose built environment.

Our indoor spaces are built to support the learning and development of every age group – Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers. Each room will be equipped with high quality, focused resources designed to spark curious minds.

We'll have an expansive outdoor where children can challenge themselves on the playground equipment while building their independence and self-confidence.

Healthy, nutritious meals and snacks will be provided throughout the day.

We will offer BestStart’s Set for School initiative for our preschool children, which will be incorporated into everyday practice, assisting with the next step in their learning journey. The initiative encourages children to use their developing self-help skills and provides a range of opportunities to extend their independence.

Your child’s learning journey and milestones will be captured and shared through one-on-one communication and our online learning portfolios on Storypark. This is a great way to keep up to date with what your child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to see what’s been happening in their day, check out photos of them and comment on their activities find out more

We offer:

  • 20 hours ECE free for 3-5 year olds (meal charges may apply)
  • Help to find out eligibility for WINZ subsidies and how you can apply
  • Great teacher to child ratios

About BestStart

BestStart is a registered charity owned by the Wright Family Foundation. We support initiatives and programmes within BestStart and the wider ECE sector that support equitable outcomes for all children.  We do this because we want to make a positive difference in the lives of children.

Our centres reflect their children, staff, and communities. We celebrate individuality, uniqueness and diversity, encouraging a spirit of empathy, understanding and collaboration. Through responsive relationships and our curriculum, we support learners to choose their own path.

Our centres have strong support network consisting of an Area Manager to ensure the centres have exceptional standards.

We’re committed to promoting Hauora (Wellbeing) within our centres for our tamariki, families and staff. Our teachers ensure that children engage in physical activity as part of their everyday learning experiences, and provide healthy food, so that children receive the nourishment they need.

This is so cool seeing the photos of his daily stuff that he does I am so proud of him and how far he has come. Terangianiwa is finally mixing in with other kids of his age or even being around other kids. I am a proud Nan to this little man and how well he is developing into the centre. Way to go Terangianiwa.

SO awesome to see these little people making connections and enjoying playing together. I’ve loved seeing how Ace is developing as he makes more connections at daycare! Thanks for the photos.

Yes you are awesome Jess!! thank you for everything you all do for our babies!! Seeing the story park photos makes my whole week . Awesome cooking skills everyone! This has given me the idea to get Marewa to help in the kitchen more often. Just seeing how engaged they are in doing it all themselves and giving it all a go. Love it!!

I am really impressed with Marley’s progress. We went to Wellington last weekend and he was able to rattle off all the names of the planets and talk about earth in detail. Our wider family were so happy to hear about it all and I too was surprised at the amount he knew. Last night I read a dinosaur book with Marley before bed and he was able to name the types throughout the book before I even had the chance to name them. Again this confirms that he is picking up things that you all teach and retaining it. I had shared last week how nice it was to hear Mia talking about Ranginui and Papatuanuku when I arrived as well. Again shows that they are retaining what is taught and able to continue talking about it. Great for us as parents to hear and see our kiddies learning and sharing.

Our son has had the most amazing teachers during his almost 4 years at ABC Bayfair! He's loved making friends and feeling loved by all of you! We have been supported throughout his journey and I've loved seeing him grow and develop into the intelligent, funny little man that he is. I can't wait to read all of the beautiful things you've written to him on his book. Much aroha from our family xx Courtney"

There is an absolutely amazing atmosphere and BestStart Bayfair. The teachers create unforgettable experiences for kids that help them learn. The staff always goes an extra mile to make sure the activities are both fun and carry an incredible learning experience - dinosaur parks, exploding volcanoes in the sandpit, making a model of the solar system and that’s just a few. Always a great balance of quite activities and ‘action’ to burn the energy. Parents feel very connected and involved, as the staff has great communication and makes sure every family feels welcomed! Wouldn’t want any different place for our kids to grow and learn!
