BestStart Brooklyn is unique as we are a mixed aged centre, caring for children from 3 months to 5 years of age in one encouraging environment. This setting has many benefits for all the teachers, children and their whanau.
We are able to encourage a strong of tuakana teina – the older children caring for the younger children and vice versa. It is a classroom where all ages and stages learning from and with one another.
We strive to provide a home away from home and being a mixed aged centre allows siblings, cousins and friends to stay together meaning their relationships and attachments are strengthened.
Infants have their own dedicated space within the classroom for them to feel safe and to explore on their own time while we provide a "Set for School" Programme for our older tamariki to help prepare them for their transition to school.
