He Waka Eke Noa | We are all in this together - tamariki, whānau and kaiako
At BestStart Cornwall Street, we create learning moments that flow from tamariki’s natural interests and play, fostering a warm, engaging environment built on connection, curiosity, and exploration.
Our kaiako (teachers) embrace a place and play-based philosophy, rooted in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and taking a holistic approach to learning. We focus on the cognitive, emotional, spiritual, physical, and cultural well-being of tamariki, empowering them to thrive in all aspects of their development.
We are deeply connected to our community, promoting resilience, persistence, and curiosity through our approach. With a focus on whakapapa (Māori genealogy) and strong links to the whenua (land) and moana (sea), tamariki build connections to their cultural heritage. Located next to Queensgate shopping mall and just a short walk to War Memorial library, our centre features a newly created Localized Curriculum, individualized learning plans with intentional teaching, and a spacious environment that supports exploration both indoors and outdoors. We live by the vision, He Waka Eke Noa—We Are All In This Together—connecting tamariki, kaiako, and whānau with values of Whakaute (Respect), Mahi Tahi (Working Together), Mana (Identity), and Whanaungatanga (Community)..
