BestStart Great North Road is a dynamic and vibrant early childhood centre growing children ready for school and life. Conveniently situated near Lynnmall and Kelston, our safe and secure purpose-built centre teems with learning and nurturing care.

Embracing learning through diversity

We like to embrace the rich cultural experiences that all our families bring with them by celebrating what makes each child unique, supporting their individual learning needs, and allowing them the space to grow and develop at their own pace.

Wandering into the Tui (infants) room, you will find peace and calm. Children interact with each other and teachers, to learn to become sociable, and curious. Close relationships with families ensure that the children’s care routines are followed and that they develop a sense of belonging and connection. Teachers provide a range of varied learning opportunities to challenge and stimulate our youngest learners and help them discover their world.

Our toddlers have so much fun in the Kakapo Room! This is where they are using their senses to explore be prepared to see lots of messy play artwork and waterplay. Our toddlers develop their independence, making safe choices in the enriching environment, creating confident learners. We see our toddlers socializing with children from different cultures, learning about friendships, and their identity. In Kakapo, teachers implement Te Whāraki, the NZ curriculum, and we see the children start to show their own learning interests.

From aged 3 years old, our toddlers transition into the preschool classes, Kowhai and Pohutakawa Rooms. Preschoolers gain Be School Ready skills providing the foundations to give them the best start once they begin their journey at school. Children are taught to be independent, socially competent, and develop their learning interests in a fun and skilled way. Working in collaborative groups, children become engaged in their learning with skilled staff who are confident, fun, and knowledgeable. This contributes to children having a successful transition to school and gaining the confidence to build their future.

The environment is designed to support and stimulate learning with age-appropriate spaces and indoor/outdoor flow. Contact us to arrange a visit and see how we can help your child thrive in our early learning environment.

Could not have picked a better day care for our beautiful little girl. She has excelled so much and is super excited about starting her new adventure! Thank you so much to Sarah and the other teachers for the continued love and support you have given Leah. You have truly outdone yourselves and should be really proud.

Kristopher has been at BestStart Great North Road since he was 9 months old and is now less than a year from starting school. He has learned so much and developed so well within BestStart. His verbal skills are really good, as are his social skills. His confidence in managing himself, be it putting shoes on or getting dressed by himself, is huge. He is considerate of others and very caring. Plus Best Start Great North Road is a healthy hearts school and the menu is so good. Kristopher looks forward to school every day and loves his teachers and friends. The teachers at the center are so amazing, and they share great parenting tips with me all the time. It has been such a nurturing environment for my son and I am very thankful.

Parent Review

This has been the best daycre I've chosen for my son they take such good care of him and hes learned so much from them to be so much more independent. I'm truly happy with all the staff and teachers there as they take such good care of the babies and it eases my mind to know that my baby is well taken care of and that he is happy to be there and has no problems settling in when I drop him off.
