It’s been a busy and exciting time at Best-Start Greenmeadows as our tamariki prepare to transition to kura (school).
Our "Set for School" programme is beautifully woven into our daily activities, reflecting our belief that this journey begins early and encompasses literacy, maths, science, and social skills.
This term, conversations are buzzing with excitement as some of our tamariki are getting ready for their new adventure at school. We've also been lucky to have local New Entrant kaiako visit us, giving tamariki the chance to connect and learn more about what awaits them in the coming months.
The tamariki have been immersing themselves in books about their new schools, giving them a visual and cognitive understanding of their future environment. These stories not only help the children to envision their new classroom but also familiarise them with the new spaces and routines they will encounter.
The children's creativity shone as they worked alongside Karen to create a mind map, mapping out potential daily activities and sparking excitement for their adventures to come. We have seen an increase of curiosity in science and math, which has been further fuelled by exploring colour changes, shapes, sizes and numbers —a perfect blend of learning and fun!
