The teaching team are proud of the caring, nurturing interactions with the children. We form genuine bonds with our children and whānau. Children’s home routines are supported for continuity of learning, development and care. Our classroom is well resourced with a variety of materials, catering for all infant stages. We have designed an engaging and safe space to encourage our babies to learn, develop and reach their own milestones while catering for their individual needs and providing experiences for social interactions.

At BestStart Harrison Street, our play and learning environments are divided into three rooms to help support children’s individual learning and development. We have a warm, homely centre, with beautiful natural environments, perfect for children to explore and flourish. We have a wonderful loving teaching team to cater to your children’s needs, and help your child learn and grow.
Infant Room (Koru Room) 0 – 2 years
Toddler Room (Pounamu Room) 2 – 3 ½ years
Our natural environment provides children endless opportunities for exploration, discovery, and wonder moments. It is within our learning environment that children are able to extend their physical development as they grow and learn through play. Children learn about respect for themselves, others, our resources and the environment through positive role modelling and guidance from teachers. We have a great team culture of respect, professionalism and reciprocal relationships between whanau and children with creative and passionate teachers who are always discovering different ways to foster learning with the children.
Preschool Room (Te Awa Room)3 ½ - 6 years
We have a great team of innovative teachers who are always observing, researching and incorporating different ways to engage the children, providing meaningful experiences to enhance their learning and development. Emotional regulation and social competence are supported through the use of positive guidance and appropriate teaching strategies from the team. Our natural outdoor environment supports the children’s holistic development through physical challenges, providing problem solving experiences and having a social environment to build relationships with others. As a team, we provide a strong focus on independence, preparing children for their transition to primary school, and be school ready. Children’s wellbeing is strengthened through a range of age appropriate spontaneous, and teacher directed experiences
