At BestStart Kaiwharawhara, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and excited to explore. Our centre offers a nurturing and inclusive environment for pēpi, toddlers, and young children up to 5 years old.

A curriculum connected to place and people

Located in the heart of Kaiwharawhara, our teaching draws inspiration from the stories of Kupe and Te Wheke, celebrating the history and whakapapa of our local area. This connection to place helps children build a strong sense of identity and belonging from their earliest days.

Overlooking Te Whanganui-a-Tara and positioned along a main route into Wellington’s CBD, we’re an ideal choice for commuting families. Our centre feels calm and grounded, even though we’re connected to the energy of the city around us.

We create opportunities for children to explore the wider world through regular excursions designed for each age group. Matariki, cultural celebrations, and community events are highlights of our calendar, always supported by our enthusiastic whānau.

Preparing children for their next steps

We work closely with local kura/schools to support smooth transitions to school, and we offer extra experiences led by our passionate teaching team. Children develop confidence, independence, strategies and skills they need for future learning throughout life.
