At BestStart Kaiwharawhara we cherish collaborative learning!

Nestled in the heart of Kaiwharawhara, BestStart Kaiwharawhara embraces a localised curriculum inspired by Kupe and Te Wheke, rooted in our community's rich heritage and connection to this area.

Our centre offers an immersive Messy Play Program aligned with BestStart's 16 Areas of Play, fostering deep family involvement.

We prioritize regular hui with whanau to celebrate cultural events, important New Zealand occasions, and various festivities, ensuring open and transparent communication. Located conveniently along a main route to Wellington's CBD, our centre welcomes families from diverse backgrounds and industries, representing over 30 different cultures at any given time.

Overlooking Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington Harbour) and bustling transport routes, our community celebrates cultural diversity through events supported by whanau. We commemorate Matariki together and embark on monthly excursions tailored to each room, integrating messy play events into our innovative program planning.

Our commitment extends to preparing children for school through collaborations with local Kura and offering a Football Academy run by our dedicated staff. At BestStart Kaiwharawhara, children explore their world with curiosity and confidence, empowered to make choices and share their discoveries. We view each child as a capable learner, partnering closely with families to understand and support their aspirations.

Our multicultural team values learning about the diverse backgrounds of our families, enriching daily experiences for your child. Research underscores the importance of connecting home and centre experiences, making our centre "our place" for joyful learning and growth together.

Kind words from parents

"I can’t fault this centre! All the staff and teachers are amazing, great food and so much fun for our daughter. Made the return to work a lot easier knowing shes in good hands."
Olivia
"Thank everyone for the time our family had at the centre. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, from front desk to each and every one of the teachers. Both children thrived, enjoying the fun activities and the learning and skills development provided. The teachers in the Weka Room made the transition for both wonderfully easy. Everyone is vibrant and full of energy. I would recommend BestStart Kaiwharawhara to anyone looking for childcare."
Parent
"A wonderful place for my child to be part of as she learns and grows. The staff are fantastic as well as being incredibly welcoming every day. It’s great that nothing seems to be a problem and the teachers, as well as management, have time to answer parent questions."
