Children are creative, curious, and unique, each with their own identities, languages, and cultures. Our aim is to support and promote our children's learning and development by providing ample opportunities and experiences that integrate their unique interests, knowledge, and perspectives.
It’s also about getting to know the children and their whānau and everything they bring with them. It involves stepping back and observing the children to gain a deeper understanding of why they do what they do, and how they do it. Children are co-authors of their learning, with teachers acting as facilitators.
At BestStart Kenderdine Road, our local curriculum reflects our commitment to empowering children and supporting their growth. We provide an open-ended learning environment where children are encouraged to take the lead in their learning journey. We value bi-culturalism, embracing the diverse languages, cultures, and identities of our children, while also promoting a sustainable play space that nurtures respect for Papatūānuku (Mother Earth). Our curriculum also focuses on preparing children for their next journey, providing pathways to kura (school) and ensuring they are ready for the exciting challenges ahead.
He auaha, he pākiki, he ahurei hoki ngā tamariki, me o rātou ake tuakiri, reo, me ngā ahurea hoki. Ko ta matou whainga ko te tautoko me te whakatairanga i te ako me te whakawhanaketanga o a tatou tamariki ma te whakarato i nga whai waahi me nga wheako maha e whakakotahi ana i o raatau hiahia, matauranga, me o raatau tirohanga.
He mea hoki mo te mohio ki nga tamariki me o rātou whānau me ngā mea katoa e mauria ana e rātou. Ko te hoki whakamuri me te mataki i nga tamariki kia hohonu ake te maarama ki te take e mahi ai rātou, me pehea hoki e mahi ai. Ko ngā tamariki te kaituhi o a raatau akoranga, ko ngā kaiako hei kaiwhakahaere.
