At BestStart Kotātā Heights, our indoor spaces are created to support the learning and development of every age group – Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers.

Guided by our vision “Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti ka ārahi i ā tātou mahi – Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work”, our environments honour each child’s individuality, strengths, and learning style.

Each room is equipped with high-quality, purposeful resources designed to spark curious minds and encourage exploration. Our expansive, natural outdoor area provides rich opportunities for tamariki to challenge themselves, develop independence, and build self-confidence. The balance between our indoor and outdoor spaces supports a holistic and well-rounded early learning experience, where children are empowered to learn through play, discovery, and connection.

Located in the beautiful suburb of Whangārei, our centre offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where tamariki and whānau feel a strong sense of belonging. Our centre cook prepares healthy, nutritious meals daily, using a menu designed to fuel growing bodies and support children’s wellbeing throughout the day.

Our daily preschool curriculum incorporates BestStart’s Set for School programme, supporting children as they prepare for the next step in their learning journey. This programme encourages self-help skills, independence, and confidence, helping to ensure a positive and supported transition to school. Each child’s learning journey and milestones are captured and shared through meaningful one-on-one communication and online learning portfolios via Storypark, alongside the BestStart parent portal. These tools strengthen partnerships with whānau and keep families connected to their child’s learning and progress.
