At BestStart Lynmore, we take pride in fostering a strong connection with our local community, especially through our deep respect for Te Ao Māori. Our tamariki (children) regularly visit local maraes such as Owhata, where they learn about the history of our pepeha (cultural identity statement). These experiences enrich their understanding of their cultural heritage and instill a strong sense of belonging and pride. Our commitment to these values is reflected in our daily practices, ensuring our tamariki embrace and celebrate their identity.
Our centre is dedicated to a holistic approach to education, with a focus on play-based learning, strong relationships, and cultural competency. We encourage our tamariki to explore and express themselves through various cultural activities, such as showcasing their own cultural dances. Our inclusive environment celebrates the diversity within our community, and we actively participate in rituals and events that strengthen our partnerships with tamariki, families, and whaanau, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We also prioritize individualized learning plans and regular communication with families, ensuring that every child's learning journey is meaningful and connected to their cultural roots. Our strong ties with Lynmore Primary School provide our tamariki with opportunities to explore the school environment, making the transition to school smoother. Additionally, we offer enriching experiences such as nature exploration in Waitawa Bush, further deepening our children’s connection to the world around them.
