BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. BestStart MacDonald Street is located in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga and provides affordable, high-quality education and award-winning childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

At BestStart MacDonald Street, we believe it's important to foster connections between our centre, families, and our amazing local community. We are tucked away near the end of a long cul-de-sac off of the Pacific Coast Highway, and we love to get out into the community through walking trips and using our van to explore our surrounding areas. 

We are located close to several schools and we work closely with them to support children's transition to primary school. We are also lucky to have a before & after-school care and holiday programme on our premises for ease of pick-up and drop-off. We are a large centre with generous amounts of space, with a huge outdoor play area. We currently have fortnightly excursions with our pre-schoolers heading to the airport which supports important skills such as communication and developing relationships with our community.

Our centre activities consist of unhurried routines and play-based experiences that are on offer each day and we believe in supporting each child to develop and grow by nurturing their interests. Our Set for School programme ensures that families know what to expect for their children's transition to the next phase of their learning journey. Through a play-based curriculum, our programme seamlessly integrates learning that aligns with the NZ school curriculum, including literacy, maths, and science. Our BestStart environments are thoughtfully arranged to foster greater independence and support children in developing essential self-help and socio-emotional skills needed for school readiness.

Our Team

Our team is multicultural and full of passion. We are deeply connected to our tamariki and whanau and work hard to create amazing bonds with each child. We believe in role modeling and building relationships which are strong foundations for learning at any age. Our dedicated team of teachers work alongside families to create individual development programmes and consistently update e-portfolios that record their learning and development.
