BestStart Montel is a childcare and education centre located on a quiet street, close to Great North Road and WestCity mall in the heart of Henderson. We offer a range of childcare options to suit your family's needs and have an experienced team who provide the very best education and care for your child.

Together, We Learn, Grow and Achieve

At BestStart Montel, we work in partnership with our families to ensure each child flourishes. We believe in establishing open and regular communication with parents and whanau which allows our team to get to know and respond to each child and their whānau needs. As a team, we ensure that each child and their whãnau feel like that they belong, feel welcomed, comfortable, safe and have a sense of home away from home.  We respect and celebrate diversity.

Together, our team work collaboratively to provide a stimulating learning environment. We see children in our care as competent and confident learners full of knowledge.

Pukeko Room (3 month to 2 years) Our nursery is a warm, caring environment filled with love and little explorers actively discovering the world around them! Our Kaiako (teachers) plan the curriculum based on our pepi’s (infant) interests, developing skills and our whanau aspirations, working alongside parents and caregivers to ensure partnerships with families that support continuity between home and centre and provides deeper knowledge of each and every infant.

Kiwi Room (2 to 3.5 years) Our active, excited and energetic toddlers love exploring and making new discoveries! Our passionate Kaiako set up provocations to encourage our tamariki to think outside the box, utilizing up-cycled and natural materials to ensure our children are learning about sustainability and looking after our precious whenua (land). Our teachers engage with families to build and maintain strong relationships that are supportive of children’s learning and family aspirations.

Tui Room (3.5 to 5 years) There is nothing better than hearing preschoolers who love to learn! And that is exactly what you hear in our Tui room. With experienced teachers who share that same love for learning, our Tui tamariki (children) experience an environment where they are encouraged to develop their independence as they prepare for Primary school with our specially designed Be School Ready program! Our kaiako strive to create a safe and calm home-like environment to support children's social and emotional learning.  This is achieved by ensuring our environment is familiar for children and their families, through consistent routines and strong meaningful relationships. Learning in the Tui Room is a hands-on approach, encompassing our families aspirations and with play as a curriculum that focuses on the children’s interests and dispositions, encouraging Tamariki to gain a love for learning as they engage in the carefully planned environment and experiences.

Garden to Table Our vegetable garden offers our tamariki the opportunity to get involved in their meals, planting, caring for and eventually harvesting the vegetables to take to our kitchen where our talented cook turns it all into delicious, nutritious meals worthy of our Healthy heart award.

Part of the award winning BestStart family, we've been voted the Most Trusted early childhood education provider in New Zealand. BestStart Montel is your child's destination for early learning.

kind words from our parents

Aunty

Thanks so much for everything you have done for me niece over the years. Educators are often the most underappreciated professionals in our society, but I want to say a massive thank you for all of your efforts. She has centainly learnt and grown so much during her time with you. I have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated these updates through Storypark. I will miss them greatly. Many blessings to you all as you continue in your work with the children in your care. May they be equally and additionally blessed through your service.

Parent

Our 18 month old daughter Heather loves going to BestStart Montel Ave. When she sees her school bag in the morning, she runs to the door to go. This shows us that she feels welcome and safe. She adores her teachers Hari, who is absolutely amazing with all the children.

Parent

BestStart Montel Avenue is always well organized and they do a lot of activities with our kids. My daughter has learned so much there. My overall experience is really good. I never have to worry about anything. Thank you!
