BestStart Omahu Road is located in Frimley, Hastings and offers award-winning childcare and early education for children aged 0 to 6 years old. We are open from 6:45am to 5:30pm throughout the year and we offer a wide range of full-day and part-time options to suit our families' needs.

We focus on building strong and trusting relationships with our children and work with families and support children to be the best they can be and our warm, friendly and inviting spaces are designed to make everyone feel welcome and supported.
We celebrate the wonderful diversity of our families, acknowledging every child’s culture, language, and identity. Our Kaiako empower our children’s mana every day, encouraging them to become capable and confident learners who know just how precious they are. We engage in regular community excursions and our centre cook provides fresh, healthy meals and snacks each day.
Our Team
Our passionate and diverse team of Kaiako (teachers) value the importance of aroha and connection for every child. Our teachers engage with tamariki and whānau in a calm and welcoming manner, as we establish a sense of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga throughout the centre. Our Kaiako plan experiences based on the age, stage and interests of each child that reflect their individuality and interests.

Our Spaces
We have 5 adjoining rooms for children at different stages of development, with 3 outdoor spaces designed for children to grow and explore. Within each room, Kaiako support children in a nurturing manner and we have created welcoming, engaging learning spaces to stimulate our children’s imagination and curiosity.
Each room creates their room's curriculum based on the interests and needs of their tamariki
Nest Room (Infants)
0 - 1 year old
We provide primary caregiving within our Nest Room which strengthens the bond and trust between each child and their special teacher. The key contact for each family enables us to work closely together to follow the child’s natural rhythm and home routines.
Our dedicated caregivers engage in respectful care interactions, supporting each child's learning and development.
Koru Room (Toddlers)
1 - 2 years old
Within our Koru Room, our kaiako work alongside children and families to create learning plans based on each child's stage of learning and development. Our outdoor areas allow children to socialise and learn through exploration and play.
Pohutukawa, Totara & Rimu Rooms (Preschoolers)
2 - 5 years old
Within our preschool rooms, our dedicated kaiako implement our Set for School programme which is designed to prepare and teach your child the necessary skills needed for their transition to primary school and the next step in their learning journey.
Our Pohutukawa and Rimu Room offer full-time hours, while our Totara Room offers part-time options from 9:00am - 3:00pm.
