BestStart Omahu Road is located in Frimley, Hastings and offers award-winning childcare and early education for children aged 0 to 6 years old. We are open from 6:45am to 5:30pm throughout the year and we offer a wide range of full-day and part-time options to suit our families' needs.

At BestStart Omahu Road, aroha and kindness are at the heart of everything we do. We focus on building strong and trusting relationships with our children and work with families and support children to be the best they can be and our warm, friendly and inviting spaces are designed to make everyone feel welcome and supported. 

We celebrate the wonderful diversity of our families, acknowledging every child’s culture, language, and identity. Our Kaiako empower our children’s mana every day, encouraging them to become capable and confident learners who know just how precious they are. We engage in regular community excursions and our centre cook provides fresh, healthy meals and snacks each day.

Our Team

Our passionate and diverse team of Kaiako (teachers) value the importance of aroha and connection for every child. Our teachers engage with tamariki and whānau in a calm and welcoming manner, as we establish a sense of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga throughout the centre. Our Kaiako plan experiences based on the age, stage and interests of each child that reflect their individuality and interests.

What We Offer

  • Regular excursions into the local community, including Frimley Park
  • Fresh, nutritious meals and snacks supplied daily
  • Passionate and experienced kaiako (teachers) dedicated to forming strong, responsive relationships
  • Set for School programme to prepare your tamariki for primary school
  • 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies available* if required

Our Spaces

We have 5 adjoining rooms for children at different stages of development, with 3 outdoor spaces designed for children to grow and explore. Within each room, Kaiako support children in a nurturing manner and we have created welcoming, engaging learning spaces to stimulate our children’s imagination and curiosity.

Each room creates their room's curriculum based on the interests and needs of their tamariki

BestStart Omahu is the best, they all make you feel like family which makes it easier to leave your child. They support each family and each situation, they share the highs and the lows. I love receiving stories throughout the day of the progress my child has made and the fun they are having. Communication is key and BestStart Omahu do this to the highest level. The teachers were so supportive at the beginning when I was super anxious first-time mum leaving my girl in the hands of someone else. The communication has been great, and the management have gone out of their way to accommodate my working hours.

I personally think it is a great school, the hours are perfect for working families. The staff are great and easy to talk too, the kids are so amazing. My daughter loves it there playing with her friends and loves the teachers. IF there is any problems I let them know and they are dealt with straight away.
