Welcome to BestStart Pyes Pa. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm and we provide education and care for children aged 3 months to 6. We offer morning and afternoon sessions as well as school day and full day attendance to cater for a variety of needs.

Find us within the shopping centre in the heart of Pyes Pa. We believe the foundation for children's learning is supported by fostering a strong sense of mana whenua/belonging; where they and their families are respected and valued as unique individuals, secure in their language, culture and identity.  

The ultimate gift we can give our world is to nurture our children's attributes; empowering them to go forth in life with knowledge, creativity, self-confidence and instilling within them values of acceptance, empathy, compassion, curiosity, respect and a love of the natural world. Children learn as they play, and more importantly, in play, children learn how to learn.

Our Team

We have a dedicated team who have aroha at heart! We believe that positive, strong and trusting relationships between parents and children are essential. We respect and celebrate diversity of all our tamariki and their culture.

We are a small but close team with each teacher bringing their own unique skills to the table. With regular professional development and learning from one another we are consistently upskilling to provide the best possible care and education to our BestStart Pyes Pa family.

What We Offer

  • Fresh, healthy, nutritious meals and snacks provided throughout the day 
  • 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies available* if required
  • Get Set for School programme
  • Regular Excursions - such as swimming lessons and dance classes

Our Spaces

We have well thought out classrooms to meet the changing needs of our tamariki as they grow. We provide a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for our children and whanau, creating strong relationships that build emotional connections, security, and trust. In every room children are encouraged to be actively involved in literacy, numeracy, science, arts and crafts, cooking, music and movement, and a range of physical activities. 

Much thought and planning has directed us towards developing our environments as the 3rd Teacher; interesting, educational and full of discovery. Every space, whether inside or outside, reflects a concern for providing children with a natural and stimulating learning environment.

Thanks for always being there for us parents and for all the teachers in your team. You do have an amazing team of people at BestStart and we love you and your team. We truly appreciate all the hard work and love that the teachers and Debz and you put into sharing such wonderful videos, and activities for all of us to help support our kids at home. It is amazing that you all are doing this despite all the stress on your shoulders too of being at home in lockdown with your own family and children. Thanks for the love that all of you share. We love you and your team and one last thing. Rydvik is still very much into the Solar System and has managed to learn all the names of the planets in the correct order.

You guys have been amazing, Lincoln just loves daycare and I’m so glad we found his home at BestStart.
