Discover our unique rooms

Our centre has two rooms for our under 2's and three for our over 2's each with their own thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor environments that include high quality, engaging resources designed to spark curious minds at every stage of their learning and development.

Uenuku Room(6 Weeks – 15 Months)

Our Uenuku Room provides a warm, nurturing space designed especially for our youngest learners — from 6 weeks to 15 months old. The large, open-plan classroom is bright, calm, and filled with natural light, giving babies plenty of room to explore, move, and grow safely.

Our caring and experienced teachers create an environment that feels like a home away from home. Responsive, one-on-one interactions support each child’s unique rhythm, while soft play areas, sensory experiences, and cozy corners encourage curiosity and comfort.

With a strong team of support teachers, every baby receives individual attention and loving care. Families can feel confident knowing their little one is forming secure relationships and building the foundations for lifelong learning in a gentle, joyful setting.

Kikorangi Room(15 Months – 2 Years)

Our Kikorangi Room is a lively, welcoming space designed to support children as they begin to walk, talk, and explore their growing independence. The open, flexible classroom layout encourages movement, discovery, and imaginative play — all within a safe and nurturing environment.

Our experienced teachers and support staff provide warm, responsive care, fostering each child’s sense of belonging and confidence. Through sensory play, music, art, and outdoor time, tamariki are encouraged to explore their world while developing early social, emotional, and communication skills.

We work closely with families to support each child’s unique needs and routines, ensuring a smooth transition from infancy to greater independence. It’s a joyful, caring space where curiosity is celebrated and every milestone is cherished.

Kakariki Room (2 - 3 years old)

Our Kakariki Room is a warm, vibrant space designed to nurture independence, curiosity, and a love for learning. At this stage, children are developing rapidly—learning to express themselves, explore their environment, and build friendships. Our experienced kaiako (teachers) create a safe and engaging setting that encourages every child to grow at their own pace.

Learning experiences include hands-on play with art, music, movement, sensory exploration, and early literacy and numeracy concepts woven into everyday routines. Outdoor play is a big part of the day, helping tamariki develop confidence, coordination, and a connection to nature.

We focus on building strong relationships, supporting language development, self-help skills, and social confidence. The room’s daily rhythm balances active exploration with quiet, restful moments—helping each child feel secure, valued, and ready for their next steps in learning.

Whero Room(4-5 years old)

Our Whero Room is an inspiring, purposeful space designed to support tamariki as they take their final steps before school. Here, learning through play remains at the heart of our programme, while experiences are intentionally planned to build the skills, confidence, and independence tamariki need for a successful transition to school.

Our experienced kaiako (teachers) nurture social, emotional, and cognitive development through meaningful, hands-on learning. Tamariki engage in activities that promote early literacy and numeracy, problem-solving, self-regulation, and collaboration. They also learn to take responsibility for their belongings, follow routines, and participate in group discussions—key foundations for classroom life.

The environment encourages curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning. Through projects, creative exploration, and outdoor discovery, tamariki strengthen their ability to focus, communicate ideas, and persist with challenges.

Every aspect of the Set for School programme in Whero is guided by the principles of Te Whāriki, ensuring children leave with not just school readiness—but a deep sense of belonging, wellbeing, and curiosity for lifelong learning.

Outdoor

Our outdoor environment is a spacious, natural learning area where children are encouraged to explore, socialise and learn through play.
