 At BestStart St Andrews we are proud of our partnerships with families. We believe it is important to have a strong connection between home and centre and that we support each other so that children can achieve positive learning and growth. We understand and support the aspirations of whaanau / families, which play an essential role in the learning and development of their tamaiti / child. We work closely with all families to achieve this together.

Connections with our community also allow us to grow with our families. Connecting with the SPCA and animals or with Bunnings and the community garden allows tamariki to continue making connections between home life and centre life.

Located on Sunshine Ave in Te Rapa's industrial area, BestStart St Andrews provides generous indoor and outdoor spaces for happy and engaged children, this is a centre worth visiting.

Our Team

Our teaching team is skilled in providing an environment with learning experiences conducive to the age and stage our children are at and that reflect their strengths and interests. We are committed to supporting the growth of our great teachers and providing opportunities for regular professional development.

Our Spaces

We have three aged-based learning rooms to meet the changing needs of our tamariki as they grow. We provide a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for our children and whanau, creating strong relationships that build emotional connections, security, and trust. In every room, children are encouraged to be actively involved in literacy, numeracy, science, arts and crafts, cooking, music and movement, and a range of physical activities.

Besides Ronin being very excited to be returning back to centre after lockdown, it has been great! Just how welcoming and friendly all the staff were towards me and ava-jade and also how easy the whole process was and even though I was not ready for ava-jade to go to daycare unsettled I was dropping her off on her first full day but the transition was so calm and she just run off and played. I felt better knowing that I was able to leave her there and her not having tantrum for the staff etc. She was very excited and tired when I picked her up made me feel happy as that we choose BestStart St Andrews was right for her and her talking has come a long way from when she first started there it's been so incredible.

​Our Pūkeko room has been focused on creating engaging circle time with tamariki. Through these circle times, we are able to support children in developing their communication skills by adding words to their vocabulary, including te reo Maaori.
