BestStart Taita is a wonderful early learning centre located right in the heart of Taita, next to the Walter Nash Stadium. We provide quality education and care for children aged between 3 months to 5 years old.
At BestStart Taita, we have deep rooted connections with our community!
Our centre is not just a physical space; it's a living embodiment of our values, philosophy, and deep-rooted connections within the community.
Imagine a vibrant six-petal poppy surrounded by beautiful Pasifika patterns. This image captures the heart of our center's philosophy. Each petal of the poppy represents one of the six key parts of our philosophy, all connected to our core values of language, culture, and identity.
Our history as a converted RSA symbolizes our growth and commitment to excellent childcare and education. The Pasifika patterns around the poppy reflect our strong community ties and rich cultural heritage. They remind us of our roots and guide us in nurturing your children.
Each petal is a crucial part of our educational approach, woven into everything we do.

Kaihopara (Explorers)
(Under 2's)
Our beautiful room for our youngest tamariki, starting from 3 months up
until they are ready for our next classroom environments. We encourage and
support their exploration in our room and our garden. A calm and tranquil space
where time slows down for our babies and toddlers and they use their senses to
discover our natural resources. We go at the child's pace and follow
their lead with sleeping and eating, helping them to feel trust in this place
and their teachers.
Putohe (Determination)
(Over 2's)
Children have a wide range of curriculum options to help them develop essential life skills. They can play independently or with friends and engage in activities that enhance their gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and self-care abilities. Our program also focuses on teaching them to care for others, their belongings, and their classroom. Additionally, we provide a shared outdoor space where children can move freely and enjoy the fresh air.
Awhero (Ambition)
(Over 2's)
Our vibrant learning environment is designed to inspire and engage young minds. With a balanced mix of structured activities and free play, children develop essential skills in a fun and supportive setting. We focus on preparing children for school with our Set for School programme which focuses on social skills, self-help skills, taking responsibility and building emotional resilience. This also means interactive activities for tamariki to build a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
