BestStart Te Awamutu early learning centre is open weekdays from 7.30am to 5.30pm, only closing for public holidays. We have two specialised learning areas to support the changing developmental needs of our tamariki as they grow as well as a project room for indepth inquiry learning.

At BestStart Te Awamutu we nurture the communities youngest!

We nurture our communities youngest, supporting them in their growth and allowing each child to blossom in their own unique way.

Here at BestStart Te Awamutu We believe the community plays an integral part of our early childhood centre and curriculum. We foster reciprocal relationships through participating in excursions and nurturing relationships with our local community organisations.

At our centre you will find a welcoming, warm atmosphere where whānau and the community play an important part in centre life. We love to celebrate all the cultures and acknowledge their importance. From Matariki celebrations to movie nights, visits from our local police to exploring at the park, we never miss an opportunity to make connections that help our children grow strong and proud of who they are and where they are from.

Our tamariki are nurtured as they make connections and establish their roots, getting ready for learning. In partnership with whānau, we tend to their needs, embracing their uniqueness and the diversity they bring. Our families have so much to offer and we embrace their skills and wisdom, incorporating their insights and knowledge into our learning programme.

Our Team

At our centre we believe that the role of the teacher is to excite the natural curiosity of children.

We are a small but close team with each teacher bringing their own unique skills to the table. Being able to communicate with new families and in home languages is important to us and we are lucky to have a teacher from China, fluent in Mandarin and a teacher from the Philippines who is fluent int Filipino, Cebuano and Waray Waray.

With regular professional development and learning from one another we are consistently upskilling to provide the best possible care and education to our BestStart Te Awamutu family.

kind words from our parents

Parent

My son's teachers at BestStart always put him and his needs first. I have seen first-hand how well they are with every child and I feel safe leaving my child there all day .

My son started at BestStart Te Awamutu just days before the country went in to alert level 4 lockdown. Throughout the lockdown we found storypark amazing, the teachers posting a range of idea’s and activities for us to do at home. My son really enjoyed the mat-times videos, as he sang along doing the actions. It is great, that we have this platform for him to continue building his new relationships with his teachers. At alert level 3 I had to go back to work, I found the staff had put some robust systems in place to ensure the wellbeing of my son was paramount. They were very supportive and helped ease his transition back into the centre. Over the last few weeks, I have noticed my son comes home incredible happy with artwork and sharing stories of his day. Thank you BestStart Te Awamutu for helping my son feel comfortable in his new surroundings.

Parent

I am so happy with how well our almost 2 year old has settled in at BestStart Te Awamutu! The teachers are so lovely and caring and it didn’t take long at all for our son to feel safe and secure in a completely new environment. I feel confident that we made the right decision to enrol when we did as our little babe is now totally thriving and learning new things every day!

Parent

Everyone at BestStart have been fantastic with my daughter. She loves her days in daycare .

I would definitely recommend BestStart Te Awamutu. Both my daughter & son there, my daughter in the preschool and son in the babies and they both love it. Completely different set up to what we were used to in England, so really wasn’t sure about any of the places we looked at first, we settled with BestStart in the end for many reasons and it is honestly the best decision we have made for our children. My son is super happy and sometimes I even think he prefers them to me my daughter also absolutely loves it and has come on so much with writing, letters and numbers etc. Lots of people have commented as well about amount the fun activities and events or festivals they set up for the kids throughout the year, they are always planning something fun. Honestly, it’s a great place and feel so comfortable with my kids there!
