"That which is nurtured, blossoms and grows"
Located close to Taupō’s town centre and CBD, BestStart Te Heuheu Street Kindy offers tamariki a vibrant, connected learning environment where community, culture, and nature play an active role in everyday experiences.
Our central location allows children to build meaningful relationships with the people and places around them, such as weekly visits to the local resthome to foster treasured intergenerational connections. Our in-centre programmes like Kids Bike Taupō and Kids Greening Taupō support confidence, physical development, sustainability, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Our play‑based curriculum places each child’s interests, passions, and individuality at the heart of their learning journey. Kaiako observe closely and respond with thoughtful provocations, rich resources, and intentional support that encourage exploration, creativity, and problem‑solving.
We view the environment as a powerful third teacher, shaping learning experiences and inspiring tamariki to care for Papatūānuku through everyday sustainable practices and meaningful engagement with the natural world.
As a proudly multicultural centre, we celebrate the diverse identities, languages, and cultures that make up our community. Strong partnerships with whānau, iwi, and community agencies guide our teaching and ensure every child feels seen, valued, and supported. These relationships help us understand each family’s aspirations and create a learning environment that reflects and honours them.
Our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi underpins our approach, ensuring Māori perspectives, values, and tikanga are woven into daily practice. By embracing both bicultural foundations and multicultural celebration, we create an inclusive, respectful space where tamariki grow as confident, connected, and curious learners — ready to explore their world with joy, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
