We came together as a community and created a free event for families with little ones under five.
In our home feel centre, families stepped into a magical world of lights and sounds, specially designed for children under five. In an indoor environement where we didn't need to worry about the weather and keeping our little ones warm and cosy was priority.
It was a lot of fun and every child took home a goody bag. When you stepped through the front doors into reception, it was like you were inside a rocket ships. Sounds were doing a countdown and flying into space seeing all the stars on the way through.
Stepping into the family play room, was like flying through the solar system. Showing all the different planets, stars and atosphere sounds. Walking into the main play room you have now landed on a different planet. Showing amazing colours with lights and alien like plant life. You could stop to put your hand into some space water and touch the glow sticks.
As you enter the back deck and walk down the walkway to the back room the lights guided the way with floating laterns. In the backroom you have entered a new world full of bubbles, lights, face painting and music to dance to.
Outside there was a fog machine and trees lit up looking like trees in space. Manaakitanga is important to us, it’s a way to encourage positive relationships and make sure everyone feels valued and included from an early age.
