BestStart Waihopai is unique as we are a mixed aged centre, caring for children from 2 to 5 years of age in one encouraging environment. This setting has many benefits for all the teachers, children and their whanau.
We are able to encourage a strong of tuakana teina – the older children caring for the younger children and vice versa. It is a classroom where all ages and stages learning from and with one another.
We strive to provide a home away from home and being a mixed aged centre allows siblings, cousins and friends to stay together meaning their relationships and attachments are strengthened.
We provide a Get Set for School Programme for our older tamariki to help prepare them for their transition to school.
