Discover our unique rooms

Our environment plays a vital role in the learning and development of our children. We provide a warm, nurturing, caring, home-like environment that always feels welcoming. Our learning spaces are bright, interactive and engaging. We are striving to be sustainable and we include children and families in this journey.
We have separate age appropriate rooms, to best support the different stages of children’s learning and development. The outdoor areas in our Nursery and Preschool promote exploration and physical movement.

Te Ruma Nursery(3 months-2 years)

In our beautiful spacious nursery, we welcome babies from 3 months old. Our infants and toddlers are nurtured by our experienced Kaiako in their own private environment. The nursery space is set up to encourage exploration with spaces for sensory, social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Our Kaiako know that children under the age of two are often sensory learners so sensory exploration plays a big part in the everyday activities in this space. Our outdoor space is designed to challenge our babies and toddlers while supporting their ever-changing physical abilities.

We have a dedicated ‘infant nest’ space where our non-mobile babies can safely explore the world around them while practicing their gross motor skills. Routines are an important part of our day in the nursery and are valued as meaningful learning and bonding experiences where our Kaiako involve the Tamariki in all parts of the routines.

Te Ruma Preschool(2- 5 years)

In our inviting preschool space, we cater for children 2-5 years of age. We value the tuakana/ teina relationships that evolve where our older more experienced Tamariki involve, teach and care for our younger tamariki. This space is set out with dedicated pockets of space for imaginative play, construction, science, manipulative play, early literacy and arts and crafts. The ‘Set for School” programme is something the preschool Kaiako are excited about that see’s our four-year old’s have their own special hui time each morning where they learn something different each time.

Our open playground was redesigned and constructed in early 2024. It offers a dedicated bike/ scooter track, large soft fall area with a variety of climbing equipment to cater for all our age groups and a covered sandpit with mud kitchen (including running water) and space for other water/ sensory play.
