BestStart Wigram is a purpose-built childcare centre with two buildings located near Hornby in the Wigram Skies subdivision. We provide award-winning early childhood education and childcare from 7:00am to 6:00pm between Monday - Friday.

At BestStart Wigram, there is always time!

At BestStart Wigram, we take an unhurried approach in our teaching and believe there is always time to learn, explore, collaborate and have fun. Through open communication, we engage with whanau by frequently updating you on your child's learning and development and we understand that each child has their own unique culture and identity.

We believe in the value of community engagement and forming reciprocal relationships within the local community to enhance children's sense of belonging. Our community relationships extend to the surrounding schools, museum, and local businesses where we engage in regular centre excursions as part of our community involvement.

Our Team

Our multicultural team of experienced and qualified teachers is committed to working alongside you and your child to support and enhance their learning. Our teachers and caregivers are dedicated to creating strong relationships so that children feel comfortable and confident to be themselves when they come to our centre.

What We Offer

  • A range of session times to provide families with varying options.
  • Fresh, healthy meals provided by our centre cook daily.
  • Regular excursions into the local community.
  • 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies available* if required.

Our Spaces

We have 7 classrooms across our two buildings, Tahi & Rua. Each classroom caters to a specific age group of infants (0 - 2 years old), toddlers (2 - 3.5 years old) or preschoolers (3.5 - 6 years old). 

This allows us to provide age-specific challenges and individualised learning plans for children while utilising learning resources designed for each stage of their development. Caregivers work closely with whanau to incorporate young children's home routines within the centre and our Set for School program helps our older tamariki prepare for their transition to school and the next step of their learning journey.

My 1 year old daughter has loved starting in the nursery; the safe, comfortable environment gives her confidence to explore. I was able to feel very comfortable with my decision to enrol her here as my four year old son has had such positive experiences in both the Preschool and currently in the Prep Room.
