At BestStart MacDonald Street, we instill a love of caring for our environment by planting vegetables, learning to care for our animals, taking care of our environment and nourishing our tamariki to be future ambassadors for Papatūānuku.

During March we have had a few exciting events such as New Zealand Sea week which runs from the 6th to the 14th March. Sea week highlights the importance and diversity of life in our marine environments and calls on Kiwis from all walks of life to look after Tangaroa’s realm. The children have learnt about sea life by making jellyfish, doing amazing artworks as well as recreating a sea environment.

This is strongly reflected in our centre vision by empowering our children to stand strong (kia kaha) in their beliefs as well as being steadfast (Kia Manawanui) in being a superhero who lives their lives with purpose and conviction, whilst helping others and the environment as well as being a leader. If we can instil a love of nature while our tamariki are young, we have hope for the future of our land and seas by knowing that our taonga is in safe hands.
