The first week of BestStart Wainoni’s Holiday Program was nothing short of ROAR-ific as tamariki explored the fascinating world of dinosaurs!
We kicked off the week by setting the scene - children arrived in their coolest dinosaur outfits, and to add even more excitement, our kaiako Shalom transformed their faces with fantastic dinosaur face paint.
In the Toddler room, kaiako prepared a range of engaging dinosaur-themed activities. Tamariki enjoyed messy play with sand, oats, and flour, along with puzzles, matching games, and colouring activities. They also decorated their own dinosaur masks, ready to wear for our big Prehistoric Party at the end of the week.
Throughout the week, we sang songs, read stories, and learned fascinating dinosaur facts through books and online resources. One highlight was creating fossil imprints of dinosaur feet, which we left to dry in the sun. Another was the exciting dinosaur egg hunt—everyone had the chance to hatch their egg and discover the little dinosaur inside!
We wrapped up our adventure-filled week with tamariki proudly wearing their decorated masks and letting out a mighty “ROAR!” to celebrate a week full of fun, creativity, and discovery. What a ROARing success it turned out to be!
