During the school holidays on September 24, 2025, our tamariki embarked on a vibrant excursion to the Porirua Public Library - a day filled with imagination, creativity, and community connection.

From the moment we boarded the bus, excitement buzzed through the group.

The tamariki eagerly pointed out familiar landmarks like the train station, the local playground, and McDonald's, proudly sharing their knowledge of the neighbourhood. At the library, the children dove into a superhero-themed workshop, crafting their own masks, wrist cuffs, and shields.

Each creation reflected their unique personalities and artistic flair. It was heartwarming to see them embrace their inner heroes, designing symbols of strength, kindness, and courage. This excursion beautifully aligned with our centre’s vision of "Growing Neighbourhood Heroes".

By exploring their local environment and expressing themselves through creative play, our tamariki strengthened their sense of identity and belonging. They learned that heroes aren’t just found in comic books - they’re in our communities, showing up with empathy, imagination, and pride. We’re so proud of our young adventurers and grateful for opportunities like these that nurture their growth.

Here’s to more journeys that inspire our tamariki to be the everyday heroes our neighbourhoods need!
