At Dilworth, our local curriculum is grounded in the history and significance of our local community. This connection guides our learning as we embrace strong community ties and foster a deep sense of belonging.
Through meaningful relationships, we nurture tamariki to develop a strong cultural identity, confidence in language and literacy, and positive social and emotional wellbeing.
When the opportunity arose to visit St Mark’s Church organ, we welcomed it with open arms.
Community Connections in Action
Our tamariki from the Set for School Enquiry Room recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to St Mark’s Church in Remuera to explore the church organ. After recently installing a piano at Dilworth, this visit was a fantastic way to extend the children’s musical learning.
Thanks to one of our amazing whānau members, who is the church organist, our tamariki were able to learn about the history of the building and the organ—and even have a go at playing it themselves.
The children loved exploring the beautiful architecture, sounds, and atmosphere of this special place. Experiences like this support our focus on culture, community, and cultural identity.
We are so grateful to our whānau for making this opportunity possible. It was a truly fantastic morning of learning and discovery.
