The children at BestStart Melling had an exciting trip in our community to the local Salvation Army in Cornwall St. The purpose of this trip was to support the children's interest in role play.

We took the children in two different groups and at different times. The first group of children went along with Wafaa and Grace. We browsed through the aisles and found some books that could be useful for when we celebrate Friendship Day and some facts about animals as well as a book called Mr Slow. Then we moved down the clothing aisle and Alice spotted a white dress and claimed this to be her wedding dress. So we got the dress and a set of bats for their physical activities.

When we returned, the next group of children went with Hayley and Fatima. They browsed through the clothing aisle as well and saw couple of Indian dress-ups which they brought back to preschool along with some table cloths for our kai tables.

All in all the children had loads of fun going to the local op shop and purchasing some awesome dress-ups for their role play experiences. Our local community is rich with learning opportunities for our children.
