Each year at BestStart Te Awamutu, we take time to honour and remember those who have served our country.
We do this by participating in a special ANZAC visit with our youngest learners.
Our annual trip is a calm and thoughtful experience, where tamariki travel together to our local memorial space in the town centre. Along the way, teachers gently introduce simple language and ideas such as kindness, gratitude, and remembering others.
This experience is not about understanding the full history of ANZAC Day, but about fostering early values of empathy, belonging, and respect. It also strengthens our connection with the local community and provides opportunities for meaningful shared experiences outside of the centre.
We are proud to create opportunities like this that support holistic learning and reflect the values we hold at BestStart Te Awamutu.
