artwork to celebrate Matariki

This week in the Pepe Room we have done some artwork to celebrate Matariki.

Yesterday we painted a galaxy background using tinfoil balls. The tamariki were very interested in the way the tinfoil felt, the noise it made and of course the taste! Today the tamariki used the fly swats to paint onto the tinfoil to create some stars.

While the tamariki were creating their master pieces they were developing their social skills as they painted alongside each other sharing the tools we picked to paint with, developing their hand, eye and arm coordination, developing their hand and finger muscles and experimenting with colors and textures.

Tino pai tō mahi tamariki, what a fantastic time we all had during both experiences!
