Award winning scarecrow
The teachers were very excited to learn that the A&P show had a special craft section for preschools to make their own scarecrow. We talked to the children and decided this was just what our Kindy garden was missing. The children were very keen for it to have a theme so we settled on Peppa pig.
Rachel & I collected sacks & the equipment we needed from our parents farms and other places. The children's favourite part of the process was stuffing the sacks with hay, there were lots of helpers for this. Some of the children helped out with the weaving for Peppa's dress and others helped with the spray painting and making the crown.
Imagine our surprise when we discovered Peppa Pig won third prize and her very own ribbon! Our ribbon is now in pride of place in the classroom and Peppa pig is ready for her permanent spot scaring birds away from our vege garden.
The children are learning about events and experiences within our community and through creating the scarecrow we used lots of team work and every child had the chance to join in and help.
