Awesome Lockdown Learning!
Over the Lockdown period, our BestStart New Lynn team have been engaging tamariki and whanau through online Story Park Sessions. Here are few photos to flash back on our learning during lockdown.
During lockdown a range of materials cannot be accessed and we needed to think out of the box and make do with objects around the house that are freely available to children and families. To cover our 16 areas of play we had few cooking sessions, storytelling, music and movement, favourite character dress up day, exploring with nature such as, sand, water, colours, leaves, sticks as well as playdough, art and craft experiences, etc….
The teachers were great at attending everyday sessions with a variety of ideas and the families response to them was even more amazing. We have been receiving photos of children engaged at home during the day after story park sessions. This is showing us how much the children were missing us as they watched us on their parent's devices.
For some, Lock down was a time for rest, a time for family and a time for learning. The team here at Best Start New Lynn were so happy to be there for our tamariki and whanau. We really loved and appreciated the wonderful feedback given by our parents.
