At Best Start Palm Springs, we are very lucky to have Papamoa Beach just across the road from us.
We regularly take small groups down to the beach to play and explore. Every time we go, the experience is different and the group creates the adventure.
It might be sprinting down the beach to climb on a big log, collecting shells or building sandcastles and creatively decorating them with shells.
These experiences are full of discussions and children are always developing their working theories about our community and environment. The children learn many safety aspects for our trip. We work on our road safety as we cross the pedestrian crossing and walk along the footpath.
We learn how to be safe on the beach, what we do if a dog comes along and although we don't go in the water, we talk about water safety. Through this experience, the children learn the joy of connecting with nature. We see this in the way each child makes their own connection.
Whether they run and jump or just want to sit and feel the sand between their toes. Through this joy, they learn to take care of the beach and how they can be kaitiaki for this environment. The beach warms our hearts every time we go.
The children get to explore and experience this amazing space, together finding fun and learning.
