At BestStart Abacus, December was a reflective and celebratory month. We took time to acknowledge the learning, growth, and achievements of our tamariki throughout the year.

To mark the end of the year, we held a special award ceremony to recognise each child’s individual learning journey. Every tamariki received a certificate of achievement and a small packet of goodies to celebrate their efforts and progress.

Kaiako thoughtfully reflected on each child’s learning and identified one key accomplishment that demonstrated their development. These achievements reflected a wide range of learning outcomes, including increased confidence, growing independence, strengthened social relationships, perseverance, and engagement in learning.

This celebration strongly aligned with our centre priority of Whanaungatanga (Family and Community). Tamariki experienced a strong sense of belonging and felt valued in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The award ceremony also supported Mana Tangata (Contribution) by affirming tamariki as capable and confident learners. Recognising individual strengths encouraged pride, self-belief, and an understanding that each child’s contributions are valued.

We are incredibly proud of our tamariki and the learning journeys they continue to develop. We thank our whānau for their ongoing support and partnership throughout the year and look forward to continuing our learning journey together at BestStart Abacus in the new year.
